SEAN MORAN

Sean grew up in Centreville, Virginia, playing many different sports but committing to tennis at age 12. Training year-round in the sport, Sean trained under local legends Craig Anderson and Eugene Russo. At age 16, Sean spent a Summer in Alicante, Spain to train at the highest level of the sport. The following year, his senior year in high School, came back to Chantilly HS to be the #1 player and team captain of the varsity tennis team, leading the team to win their first ever Virginia 6A State Title. After graduating high school, Sean returned to Spain for more training and went on to play Futures tennis tournaments in Indonesia, Japan, and Germany.

Sean loves to coach tennis as much as he loves to play, and started his full-time coaching career in 2017. Sean has coached in many local clubs and programs, as well as abroad at Academia TennisComp in Spain, and TennisSchwendi Academy in Germany. Rising quickly in the industry, Sean was given the incredible opportunity to become the director of performance tennis at McLean Racquet and Health Club, where he has spent the bulk of his career building a performance tennis program from the ground up. Sean is certified by PTR as a performance tennis trainer, and has designed a specialized pathway to take junior players from beginner to tournament champion. Sean’s students have included ITF ranked juniors, collegiate athletes, high school tennis champions, and countless ranked mid-atlantic tennis players. Sean

uses his knowledge and experience from training and playing abroad, his tireless study of the sport, as well as his team of world-class coaches to constantly enhance the program curriculum. Sean cultivates a European-style training model because he has found that this style maximizes the potential of players.

Sean believes that every player that comes into the program is a priority, and strives to make the students into champions in tennis and in life. In addition to tennis skills, development a growth mindset and the ability to push through challenges are integral parts of the program curriculum.

Alongside his position at McLean Racquet and Health Club, Sean has taken his program curriculum to the community level through his company-TennisDNA. By contracting with rec clubs, HOAs, and the county parks, Sean has made quality tennis instruction more accessible than ever before in the DC Metro Area. Ultimately, Sean hopes to provide tennis players in the area with a program that will give them what he was given by the sport of tennis; a winning mindset, a no-excuses attitude, and a life-long love of the sport.
